The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland held a do-it-yourself/maker course. Participants with blindness or visual impairments developed their own Braille remote control for smartphones and PCs. Work was carried out using digital manufacturing processes (3D printing) in Vienna's makerspaces (open workshops) from September 2022 to August 2023.
In the process, new forms of digital and inclusive collaboration were developed. Together, we designed prototypes in many small steps.
The project was presented in the following videos: YouTube video project Define and PeerTube video Braille – but digital, mobile and self-built.
The documentation can be found on our Project Define website.
The project has been completed. The project's objectives will be pursued further as part of the Do-It-Blind (DIB) project. Join in!
